The New Lotto Max Explained: $6 Plays, 1–52, and $90M Jackpots

Since April 14, 2026, Lotto Max costs $6 per play (up from $5) and each play now includes four selections of seven numbers drawn from 1 to 52 (previously 1 to 50). Jackpots still start at $10 million but can now grow to $90 million, and every draw includes $100,000 MAXPLUS prizes — the bigger the jackpot, the more of them are drawn.

How MAXPLUS works
MAXPLUS is automatic — nothing extra to buy. After the main draw, a set of additional seven-number lines is drawn, each worth $100,000 (exact match only). There is one MAXPLUS prize for every $1 million of jackpot: a $20 million jackpot night has 20 × $100,000 lines, a $50 million night has 50, and a full $90 million jackpot brings 90 of them.

What happened to the odds?
Picking 7 of 52 is individually harder than 7 of 50 — a single selection now has odds of about 1 in 33.4 million for the jackpot. But because each $6 play includes four selections instead of three, the odds per play improved overall: the chance of winning any prize is now about 1 in 5.8 per play (previously 1 in 7). Fixed prizes: 4/7 and 3/7+Bonus pay $20, and 3/7 wins a free play.

Do my old (1–50) picks still work?
Tickets bought before April 14, 2026 were drawn under the old rules. Any ticket bought since is automatically in the new 1–52 format — retailers and terminals handle this for you.
Is Lotto Max still tax-free?
Yes. Like all Canadian lottery prizes, Lotto Max winnings — including MAXPLUS and MAXMILLIONS — are completely tax-free.
When are the draws?
Tuesday and Friday nights at approximately 10:30 PM Eastern Time. Results appear on our Lotto Max page within minutes.
